Romans Road
Because I had received Jesus as my Lord and Savior I had a burning desire to now start telling other people how to receive Jesus. So I looked at different ways on how to witness. My church was using a technique called lifestyle evangelism. Where we go into the neighborhoods and cold call on houses inviting them to the church and determining if they were presently active in a church. That was as far as we went in that aspect. Eventually I started studying about Romans Road and the basic Scriptures are found there. Romans 3:23 says for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 623 says for the wages of sin is death. However the good news is, Romans 5:8 says that while we were yet sinners Jesus Christ died for our sins. Also soon learned to ask a simple question according to what you understand about the Bible: what does the person we’re calling on believe it takes to get into heaven. We use a simple technique using the acronym F.A.I.T.H.
F. forgiveness of all your past sins is not only possible but is the main work of the cross at Calvary.
A. available, eternal life is available for everyone because of what Jesus did at the cross of Calvary.
I. impossible for a human being to do enough good things to get into heaven but realize what Jesus did through his death burial and resurrection means eternal life is now possible
T. turn from your sins by asking God to forgive you, and repenting of all sins known and unknown and thanking Jesus died on the cross for you. This allows you to now call Jesus your Lord, and your Savior.
H. Heaven is your reward, not because of what you’ve done but because of what Jesus did 2000 years ago when he had his back ripped off for us and our sin nature. God is love and Jesus made salvation possible.
Eventually I was trained to do door-to-door evangelism in foreign countries. The plan would be to take a mission trip out of the country and preset up working with a church or group of churches and then have them take us to known locations where they would knock on doors and introduce us as someone from a foreign country. We would have our testimony typed out and we would basically ask if we could talk to them for a few minutes about God. If they said yes then we continue with our set of questions hopefully completed in less than five minutes.
(1) Do you believe God exists? John 1:1-2
(2) Do you believe God loves you personally? Yes we would then quote or read John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
(3) Do you believe God is perfect and holy? Yes, we would read them 1 Peter 1:15-16
but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; 16because it is written, be Holy
(4) Do you believe that Jesus is the unique and only son of God? Yes
(5) Do you believe you are sinner and therefore spiritually separated from God. Yes? Romans 3:23, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(6) Jesus Christ died on the cross and was raised from the dead. You believe Jesus died for your sins? Yes,
John 1;29, Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
(7) Do you believe you can save your own soul by performing enough good things in your life? No Titus 3:5
he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.
Ephesians 2:8,9
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast
we would then ask the question. Would you like to open the door of your heart to Jesus Christ and receive the gift of eternal life by placing your faith in Christ as your personal savior?
If they respond yes, say please listen very carefully to this prayer and decide if this is what you would like to say to Jesus right now and invite him into your life.
If they further agree they want to pray the prayer then you help them repeat the prayer, phrase by phrase. Lead the person in the following prayer. Lord Jesus, I know that I have sinned and I am separated from you. I now understand that Jesus Christ died in my place on the cross at Calvary and that he rose from the dead to pay for my sins with his righteousness. Today by my own mind, my own will, and my own emotions I choose to place my faith in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Today I accept the free gift of eternal life into my heart. Thank you Jesus for bringing me into your spiritual family so I may live with you forever. I pray this prayer in the strong name of Jesus Christ the only son of God. Amen.
I like to ask one further question. After saying this prayer is not magical but do you believe that Jesus Christ has forgiven your sins and given you eternal life?

“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.”
